Wedding Poems

Poem 1
We know it's not traditional it's not the way it's done
But instead of a wedding list we'd like a bit of sun.
Please do not think of us as rude please do not take offence
We do not want to upset you, that's not the way it's meant.
We've lived together quite a while and all the bills are paid
We've got our plates, our pots and pans, our plans have all been made.
So if you'd like to give a gift to help us celebrate
Some money for a honeymoon we would appreciate

Poem 2
The love of family and friends
Bring happiness that never ends
Each one of you as guests we’ll treasure
You’ll fill our day with so much pleasure
While wedding presents are so nice
Your presence really will suffice
But if a gift is on your mind
Your contribution would be kind
We have a dream fund on the go
Each welcome gift will help it grow
But the greatest gift is that you’ll say
You’d love to share our wedding day

Poem 3
The wedding has come, it’s here at last
"What present shall I get?" I hear you ask.
A set of glasses, towels or a toaster,
Vases, plates or even a coaster.
These things we already have in our nest,
So a gift of money, we'd like to suggest.
We know reading this some may be offended.
We hope you’re not as this wasn't intended.
So please don't think we are being funny,
If we just say "can we please have money"?

Poem 4
We’ve been together for a while,
Our home is made with love and smiles,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure,
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.
Please don't be offended at this type of request,
As our day is complete having you as our guest.

Poem 5

The date has been set and we'd love you to come,
To our wedding in (place name), a long way for some,
All you must do, is decide what to wear,
Then polish your jewellery and comb up your hair.

Don't worry about gifts, don't buy us a yacht,
The things that we need, we've already got.
Our home is quite compact, we may have to move
Then our storage and space will surely improve.

Don't go out shopping or get yourself stressed,
Don't alter your plans for a pre wedding rest.
If you want to be generous, despite what we've said,
Then save all the hassle and do this instead.....

Don't know how to word this but will give it a shot..
Contributions are most welcome, we'll go somewhere hot!
A honeymoon would be marvellous, to start off our life,
In our beautiful journey, as new husband and wife!

Poem 6
To save you looking, shopping or buying.
Here is an idea, we hope you like trying!
Deciding which gift can sometimes be hard
Instead, why not just put some money into a card,
Please come to our wedding in best suits and frocks
And put the card into our wedding post box
Now make a wish that's special to you
We'll be hoping that your wish comes true
Please don't be offended at this type of request,
You will make our day just being our guest.

Poem 7
For a couple of years we’ve lived in sin,
We have a toaster, a kettle and a stainless steel bin,
Saucepans and towels we have many,
Corkscrews and flannels we don’t need any,
We just want you with us on our special day,
But if you insist on a gift anyway,
We hope you don’t think we’re being funny!
But we’d really appreciate a gift of money,
We’ll put it all together and buy something that’s best,
As a reminder of our day and our wonderful guests.

Poem 8
More than just kisses so far we share,
Our home has been made with love and care,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A Post Box we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of vouchers, or even money,
Will be greatly appreciated (though a little funny)!
And once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!

Poem 9
In a wedding invitation, you usually find some lists,
For venues, menus and hotels, and also for the gifts
But this one is unusual, it comes in a different way,
As we're not asking for presents, but for something else today
Now please don't think we're selfish, or that this comes from greed,
But we've lived together for a while, so there's not that much we need
We would appreciate help though, to send us on our way,
And allow us to have our honeymoon, in a land quite far away
So now the point of all this rhyme, the thing that we would like,
Isn't towels, toasters or microwaves, but pounds and pence alike
And now you know the reason, behind this cheeky accord,
Please help to give us memories, of a dream honeymoon abroad

Poem 10
We have been together quite a while,
And have many pots and pans,
We don't need gifts in the usual style,
And we have another plan.
We know its not traditional,
Not the way its normally done,
But rather than a wedding list,
We would love a bit of sun!
So if you would like to give a gift,
And send us on our way,
A donation to our honeymoon
Would really make our day!
